Skyline Engineering Ltd. is a Victoria based structural engineering firm designing multi-storey residential, commercial, institutional, educational, healthcare, marine, and recreation projects. Our team combines their engineering expertise in the use of conventional and heavy timber wood frame, reinforced concrete, and steel to create efficient and unique structural designs where the structural function complements the Architectural form. Engineer in Training – Entry

Skyline Engineering Ltd. is seeking an Engineer in Training with 0 to 3 years of experience. We require candidates with a keen interest in structural engineering design and construction. The position includes a mix of field and office engineering work on varying types of projects with exceptional opportunities to gain valuable work experience. Candidates with a strong emphasis on structural design during their university studies are preferred. The successful candidate will be directly supervised by a professional engineer (P.Eng.) registered in BC.

Annual Salary: $60,000 – $80,000

Duties

  • Prepare detailed structural calculations and designs for concrete, steel, timber, and aluminum structures
  • Collaborate with the consultant and client team throughout the design process
  • Assist senior engineers in the preparation of preliminary structural design concepts
  • Prepare technical reports and memos
  • Manage the construction phase of projects including site review, attendance at site meetings, responding to RFI’s, and review of applicable shop drawings
  • Preparation and issue of instructions and sketches to site

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Must be registered (or eligible to register) as an EIT with EGBC
  • Requires valid BC driver’s license (personal vehicle is an asset)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills

Intermediate Structural Engineer / Engineer in Training

Skyline Engineering Ltd. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer or Engineer in Training with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in structural design. This intermediate-level role offers an exciting opportunity to lead projects from conceptual design through to detailed engineering and construction completion. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of a diverse range of projects, collaborating closely with senior engineers within the firm, architects, and clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development, along with the chance to contribute to unique and meaningful projects.

Annual Salary: $70,000 – $110,000

Duties

  • Manage multiple projects with varying scopes, timelines, and budgets
  • Lead in or assist senior engineers with the preparation of preliminary structural design concepts
  • Collaborate with the consultant and client team throughout all phases of design and construction
  • Prepare detailed structural calculations and designs for concrete, steel, timber, and aluminum structures
  • Prepare technical reports and memos
  • Manage the construction phase of projects including site review, attendance at site meetings, responding to RFI’s, and review of applicable shop drawings
  • Preparation and issue of instructions and sketches to site
  • Mentor & train junior staff, review their work, and provide feedback as required

  • Registered as a P.Eng. with EGBC or eligible for accreditation within 2 years of the start date
    • Should an EIT be the successful candidate, they will be supervised by a professional engineer registered in BC
  • Requires valid BC driver’s license (personal vehicle is an asset)

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Have experience with the structural design of wood frame, steel, and concrete residential and commercial structures

Structural Technologist

Skyline Engineering is seeking an entry to intermediate level Structural Technologist. We require candidates with a keen interest in structural engineering design and knowledge of the construction industry and building modelling. The successful candidate will be directly supervised and trained by a senior technologist with over 25 years of experience.

Annual Salary: $50,000 – $80,000

Duties

  • Drafting of structural drawings and preparation of structural building models (BIM)
  • Assist with the design of simple structural elements
  • Coordinate the structural design and liaise with the consultant team (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
  • On-site structural review of structural designs
  • Preparation of technical site instructions
  • Review of shop drawings

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, or Computer Aided Design and Drafting is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and/or Revit
